Yogyakarta, also known as Jogja, is a region located in the southern part of Java Island and is rich in history and the authentic culture of the Javanese people, which dates back thousands of years. Yogyakarta is home to the ancient Javanese kingdom, the Keraton Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat, which is over 300 years old and is the last remaining royal sultanate on the island of Java. As of 2023, approximately 95% of Yogyakarta’s 4.3 million residents are Muslims.
